Sectolin Electrolyte Liquid

Sectolin Electrolyte Liquid is a ready-to-use liquid electrolyte mix for horses and ponies. It replenishes the body salts your horse loses through sweating, keeping the fluid balance topped up after a demanding training session, a hot day or a long trailer journey.

Why replenish electrolytes?

Electrolytes regulate the fluid balance in the body and play a part in energy metabolism, pH balance, muscle contraction and relaxation, and signal transmission from the brain and nervous system. A horse cannot produce these salts itself and takes them from feed and drinking water. During high temperatures or prolonged exertion your horse loses more electrolytes through sweat than the regular ration can replace, which is where a supplement helps out.

Alongside sodium chloride, potassium chloride and magnesium, the mix contains dextrose. That dextrose helps water and ions to be absorbed faster in the small intestine, so your horse actually puts the fluid to use.

When to use it

Suitable for horses that sweat a lot, for example after training, on competition days, during transport or on warm summer days. Also handy for horses that drink little in the stable after exertion.

Use & dosage

Mix the liquid through the feed or drinking water. Give electrolytes from roughly half an hour before exertion until no later than half a day afterwards. Store cool, dry and dark in a closed container.
